I don't think we had planned this, this big moment of stopping or imposed slowness.
For my part, I had not anticipated that the daycare would close, as mine is private and quite small, it was a surprise. Perhaps many parents also did not see it coming. We are all in the same boat.
This week is going to be a great opportunity to slow down.
This 14-day break will be an exercise in letting go.
This is a great time to lower the bar on our expectations at home a little, and take it easy as a parent. This is not a time to overwork, it is a window that can be used to enjoy time together, take care of ourselves, and take it easy as a family.
I hadn't planned on being a single parent for 14 days longer than the business trip to HPBExpo to which Lyn , Pierre-Luc And Max participate but I am not the only one with a spouse in quarantine far from home. We will all organize ourselves. By having my son with me for 2 more weeks, I will try to make it a unique occasion. We will all want to have 2 beautiful weeks despite the confinement and it will quickly be behind us.
SLOW COOKING SLOW LIVING
As parents, we're all going to be a little slower than usual, perhaps going outside to play more than planned and shoveling to free up the balcony earlier than last year.
I can't resist setting up a little table on the patio outside, putting on some magic gloves and going outside to draw if it's a balmy 10 degrees.
Probably get out some board games and puzzles that have been sitting in the back of the cupboard for a long time, probably watch a few movies glued to the couch.
I also wish us to make lots of muffins together, to go and cook them in the pellet smoker CAMPCHEF which is in fact, let's not hide it, a real outdoor oven with digital control, an electrical outlet and the joy of cooking in the barbecue outside with a delicious smoky taste.
This week we will see on the Facebook group BBQ Quebec Techniques and Recipes people take the time to do slow cooking, the ones we promise ourselves to do when it's time to do it, when the weekends aren't full of drawing classes, sports practices and children's parties. By deciding to take things positively, it's time to spend moments with those we love, close to us, which is offered to us and these days will be perfect for charcoal ribs, smoked salmon brined for a long day before cooking slowly in the cold, a pork shoulder that fills the neighborhood with its scent, a delicious and first brisket that we've been promising ourselves to try for months.
We're all going to have to eat, so it might as well be delicious and cooked quietly with love by the family.
Happy family barbecue,
PS
