Sausages in syrup… smoked!

Saucisses dans le sirop… fumées!

For me, Christmas is synonymous with traditions. We bring back old classics that never go out of style, but that we wouldn't want to see at another time of year. That's the fun of Christmas. We give ourselves the impression that it's evolving, but it's always the same thing. Just watch Christmas movies. It's always the same story, but with different toys and absent fathers who think that only at Christmas can they make up for it.

Anyway, it's Christmas, and I also wanted to revisit a classic. The good old cocktail sausages in maple syrup. Those good old cocktail sausages in maple syrup that you threw yourself into with your cousins when you were a kid. They were good, they were hot dogs, they were full of sugar. After that you weren't hungry for dry turkey or ottoca... Atoka... Hathoqua... the red thing in a can that thinks it's beets.

If you're an adult and you're feeling nostalgic, try this recipe and go throw yourself on the bed full of coats and scream like there's no tomorrow. Rub your face in your aunt's fur coat who married a rich guy and fall asleep despite the fact that you told yourself that this year you'd stay awake until you saw Santa Claus. I'm telling you, it feels good.
