When the cake bursts!

Quand le gâteau s’éclate! - BBQ Québec

It would have been easy to prepare yet another BBQ cake recipe for you. I propose instead a blown-up version of the cake. I love the personalization of the dessert in question. If for example, my sister loves chocolate cake and grilled peaches, I will combine these ingredients, among others! Impossible not to impress your guests; this dessert looks like a work of art! Finally, it does not require any service or dishes, except for a few spoons! All the guests gather around the table, on which a long piece of parchment paper is placed. A large presentation plate would also do the trick. The ingredients are arranged, a little haphazardly. And that's where the magic happens.

So the concept is simple. Take your favorite cake, slice it, and lightly grill it on the BBQ. The cake can be homemade, but a pound cake from the grocery store will do the job just as well! It only takes a few seconds for the grill to leave mouth-watering marks on the cake slices. Alternatively, an angel food cake could simply be torn apart and arranged at more or less regular intervals on the parchment paper.

Grilling fruit with BBQ Québec's Gâteau spice will enhance the whole thing. For those who don't like dessert too much, they will be happy to still participate in this tasting, savoring a few pieces of fruit here and there. Pineapple, peaches, bananas, pears, apples, apricots, figs, melons, oranges, mangoes... Grill the fruit over direct heat, with the burners at maximum. About 2 minutes per side will be enough to melt the spice and reveal the sweet flavors of the fruit.

Finally, the toppings. Here EVERYTHING is possible! Mini meringues, popcorn (salty or sweet), grilled marshmallows, berries, cookies, caramelized bacon, candies of all kinds, ice cream or whipped cream, nuts, yogurt, mascarpone, crushed biscuits, fudge, fruit coulis, etc. Those with a sweet tooth could add a chocolate fondue to top it all off!

This may be the first time you've made this crazy recipe, but I bet it won't be the last!
