Fall is hands down my favorite season: the leaves are changing color, wool sweaters are coming out of the closet, hot chocolate by the fire is becoming popular again, and more.
Pumpkins and apples win the popularity trophy in September and October. It is a tradition for couples, families and groups of friends to go to Quebec orchards to pick this fruit.
What to do with industrial quantities of apples and pumpkins in the kitchen afterwards?
Here is a recipe that will combine pumpkin and apples.
I offer you a recipe for apple and pumpkin seed crumble.
I added chia seeds because I find it easy to add them to a recipe without changing the taste and the chia will make your dessert a little healthier.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- 2 cups of oatmeal
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds (previously smoked)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 4 cups of apples cut into small pieces
- Cake seasoning to taste
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Preparation:
1- Preheat the barbecue to 400°F
2- Mix the first 4 ingredients then set aside.
3- Cut all the apples into small slices.
4- Add the lemon juice and mix the apples to prevent them from browning.
5- Spread the apples in a dish that can be placed on the barbecue (I use a glass Pyrex dish).
6- Spread the oatmeal mixture prepared in the first step evenly.
7- Put on the barbecue for indirect cooking for 45 minutes
8- Let stand for 15 minutes
9- Taste
