Well, Valentine's Day is coming, and I thought of you, I concocted a little lunch menu to delight your better half!
We often have the impression that eggs benedict are difficult to make and that we can only eat them in restaurants. Think again! Not only is my recipe very easy to make, but it can also be made (obviously) on the BBQ! Yes, sir!
I put my favorite ingredients in it, but feel free to vary the toppings according to the tastes of the person you are cooking for!
Servings: 2
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
-
4 eggs
-
1 tbsp. white vinegar
-
1 duck leg
-
1 ounce of Grand Marnier
-
2 English muffins, cut in half
-
2 large yellow onions
-
2 tbsp maple syrup
-
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
-
1 tbsp butter
-
1 tbsp vegetable oil
-
1 camembert cheese (or any cheese you fancy!)
-
Hollandaise sauce (the recipe below is for the more experienced, but you can use one from the grocery store)
Candied onions:
-
Cut the onions into thin slices.
-
Brown them in a pan in butter and oil over direct heat.
-
Once they are caramelized, add the balsamic vinegar then the maple syrup, and let it cook indirectly. The time can vary, rely on the consistency.
Duck :
-
Reheat duck according to package directions.
-
To fray.
Poached eggs:
-
In a saucepan of water, add the white vinegar and bring to a boil.
-
Place the eggs in the water, for runny eggs, let them cook for about 2 minutes.
-
While the eggs are cooking, place the English muffin halves on the BBQ.
Assembly
Place the onions on the English muffins, then the Camembert, the duck, the egg, and finally, cover with Hollandaise sauce.
Hollandaise Sauce:
There are several ways to make hollandaise sauce, but I find the easiest way is in the microwave!
Ingredients :
1- 3 egg yolks
2- ½ lemon or 1 tbsp.
3- Pinch of salt
4- Ketchot Sauce (quantity to your taste depending on the spicy level you want)
5- ½ melted butter
Preparation:-
In a microwave-safe dish, whisk together all ingredients except butter.
-
Gradually add the melted butter in a thin stream.
-
Microwave in 20 second intervals, whisking between each, until desired consistency.
-
If it is too thick, you can add a little water and whisk again.
