In life, there are smells and tastes that leave their mark on us.
When I was little, there was a sauce that we always ate our pork and chicken with. A slightly sweet sauce, with a good garlic flavor. Everyone loved this sauce. I would even go so far as to say that it was found in every Quebec home. It was THE traditional sauce. 👌
And… one day, Ariane, my brother Max’s wife, had some on her plate and told me, after dipping her piece of meat in it, that I should create a similar one. Friends and several other members of my family also strongly suggested it to me.
BOOM! “Say no more”. I got on it! 😎 This sauce was the sauce of my childhood. Why had I never thought of doing this before!? So I started researching flavors to create a magic sauce and make sure to give it that famous Quebec BBQ touch.
And that's the inspiration for the new sauce I'm introducing to you today, the Classic pork & chicken BBQ Quebec sauce . (In fact, its full name is even LA classique porc & poulet , to tell you how much it is the "best of the best" for these meats.) A sauce, which, just by its name, clearly indicates what it goes best with. "Are you looking for a sauce to put on your pork ? Take LA classique! … It's a classic! 😉" It doesn't get more explicit than that.
Even so, because it's a true classic, just like our local food, I'm very happy to tell you that we're launching our sauce in collaboration with Le porc du Québec, THE best pork in the world. Honestly, it's a divine mix (the collaboration AND the sauce/pork combination). 👌
What does it taste like?
This is a really good mix. It's a tomato-based sauce, with a touch of pepper, lots of garlic, and a bit of a sweet and vinegary side. It also has a pretty strong molasses taste, hints of maple syrup, and all that, with a mix of herbs and spices. It's delicious. 🥰
Just taste it and BAM! You'll know the party's about to get going when you place the bottle on the table. 😜 The pork and chicken will actually be really happy to be pampered in such an incredible sauce before being eaten! 💯
The winning combinations
Of course, the sauce isn't named for nothing; it was designed for pork and chicken. However, it also works great with steaks, shrimp, vegetables, and tofu. (Yes, even vegetarians will love it!)
How to use it?
I created it to be enjoyed cold, but you can also heat it up and grill it on your food if you like. But… not for too long.
Thickness-wise, I'd say it falls somewhere in the middle between "thick" and "runny," so it flows nicely out of the bottle. Unlike our other sauces, though, this one is really more of a pour-on-a-plate dip than a slathering sauce.
There you have it! If you're looking to reminisce and/or enjoy something comforting, look no further. THE classic pork & chicken is what you need! (Like all of our products [and Quebec pork 😉] , it tastes great, so by my calculations, there's no way you can go wrong with this. 🧡)
