Description

Now spending the vast majority of his time on the road in the 4 corners of Quebec, Marc-Antoine loves to share his passion with customers and the various authorized retailers of BBQ Quebec. Whether you own a butcher shop, a BBQ store, a hardware store or another type of business, Marc-Antoine is the person to contact so that your business has fiery products and becomes the BBQ Quebec reference in your region. (If you come across Marc-Antoine in Rimouski, Trois-Rivières, Gatineau or even Chicoutimi, don't hesitate to stop him and have a chat about smokers, BBQs, spices or other things.)

Having worked in BBQ Québec stores for several years, he is very familiar with the reality of the retail world and loves to advise customers according to their needs. He even loves talking about BBQ all day long that he also teaches some of the BBQ classes offered by the company in its various stores. "For me, BBQ is the equivalent of parties with friends and family. I also associate that with good memories and memorable classes."

Like many people, Marc-Antoine's father was in charge of the BBQ when Marc-Antoine was still very young. "I will always remember when my father bought his Napoléon Prestige. I was 15 years old. My father had been to Matériaux Lavoie and, at home, it was like Christmas, but in the middle of summer! We even took our first BBQ class as customers, at the old shop in Sainte-Foy. Who would have known that a few years later I would join the ranks of BBQ Québec!"

Beyond the excellent meals that come out of the BBQs, what Marc-Antoine prefers is the present moment; spending time with the people who are with him, around the machine in operation. In his own words, he says "I think I get more satisfaction from living in the moment, grilling food, seeing people smile and love what I cook for them than from tasting the final result."

Someone even told him: "At BBQ Québec, you don't sell BBQs, what you do is offer families and friends the chance to have a good time around good food. You are creators of moments and memories." This person didn't know it when she mentioned it to Marc-Antoine, but she made him realize how right she was; that's BBQ Québec and that's why Marc-Antoine loves what he does.

BBQ PROFILE

  • Your BBQ? My Weber Performer with my All-in-one is my day to day BBQ. I also have a Weber Jumbo Joe, a Capt'n Cook from OvenPlus, and a 1996 Weber Spirit (which is still in mint condition!) that are really cool for outings to the park or the baseball field. Otherwise, for events, I love to carry around a Yoder. Oh! I also have a 1993 BBQ that is still in its original box. Who knows, maybe one day it will appreciate in value!
  • Favorite place to BBQ? BBQ Québec events or any place with my family and friends! I also love BBQ Québec classrooms.
  • Who do you BBQ for? For anyone who wants it. Ask and you shall receive!
  • Your favorite spices? Texas from BBQ Québec is really solid with its taste reminiscent of classic American BBQ. Quality in simplicity!
  • Do you eat spicy food? It's progressing!
  • Meat or fish? Meat, meat and meat!
  • Your BBQ specialty? Diversity. I love cooking lots of things at once and sharing it all! I think my favorite thing to cook is mainly beef, but people around me would probably say that my ribs are my specialty.
  • What does a Friday night look like for you? A simple night: I cook myself a steak on the BBQ, with some grilled vegetables. Otherwise, lately I've been on a pizza trip. There are so many variations to do!
  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Still at BBQ Québec, to share this passion for fire across Quebec.
  • Your best BBQ memory? Oh boy! I have too many! It's a bit like asking a parent which of their children they love the most... BBQ Camp 2019, the Rouge & Or Tailgate, BBQ Fest, Expo Habitat, are memorable events. But to that, I still have to add all the times I cooked for people I love, all the parties and days that start and end around the grill, camping meals with my best friends... way too many moments in the end! In fact, there are two that stand out: BBQ Camp 2022 has a special place in my heart, as well as a very recent trip with colleagues who are also friends in the Toronto area (if you go, go eat at Cherry Street BBQ, you'll thank me later!).
