After a multitude of pumpkins put in the compost each year, it is high time to savor this cucurbit other than in sugary coffee from a large chain.
Here's a pumpkin pie recipe that will impress your guests:
Servings: 8
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Ingredients :
- A medium sized pumpkin
- A pie crust from the market
- A can of condensed milk
- 3 eggs
- Cake Seasoning from BBQ Quebec
Preparation :
- Spread the pie dough on an aluminum plate.
- Pre-bake the pie crust on the BBQ using indirect heat at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Cut the pumpkin into quarters, keeping the peel. Place your quarters on the BBQ Québec vegetable rack.
- Sprinkle pumpkin pieces generously with BBQ Québec cake seasoning. Grill for 20 to 30 minutes or until the flesh can be easily pierced with a fork.
- Remove the peel from the pumpkin. Place in a food processor with the condensed milk and eggs.
- Put the mixture into the previously browned pie crust.
- Then place the pie on the BBQ for indirect cooking for 30 to 40 minutes or until you can prick it with a fork and it comes out clean.
- Serve and enjoy.
This tart can be served hot or cold the next day.
You can add homemade whipped cream flavored with Baileys or Gâteau seasoning to your pie.
