Relax with the family with this BBQ lunch

Relâchez en famille avec ce déjeuner BBQ

Spring Break is upon us. The lucky ones are heading off on vacation, others will be heading off for their last week of skiing of the year. If you’re like me, your spring break budget has been put through a new smoker. When did Walt Disney World ever cook a tender, juicy, marbled brisket anyway?

BBQ 1 — Walt Disney World 0.

So we need to be extra imaginative to keep our kids busy and prevent them from getting bored. As the saying goes: what works harder than a nurse who is forced to work double shifts all week? Parents during spring break.

Courage, this spring break, which lasts nine days (I cry out against lies and misrepresentation!), can go by more quickly with a BBQ, food and quick recipes to make with the children.

So here is a BBQ breakfast recipe to make with the kids during spring break.

The little French toast begins to smoke

Servings: 4

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Cooking time: 5 minutes

Ingredients (makes 4-6 French toasts):

4-6 slices of household bread

4 large eggs

100 ml of 35% cooking cream

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup frozen wild berries

2 tablespoons white sugar

Hazelnut and cocoa spread

Icing sugar for presentation

Preparation (easy for children):

In a large bowl, crack the eggs and add the cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, ground nutmeg and vanilla extract.

Whisk until mixture is smooth.

Cooking:

Preheat your BBQ to 400°F.

Make sure you have a direct cooking zone and an indirect cooking zone.

Dip the bread in the mixture.

Make sure the bread soaks well.

Cook in indirect mode and smoke with maple wood for an even more decadent result.

Your French toast is ready to toast when the outside is lightly browned, but the inside of the bread is still slightly moist.

Place the French toast in direct cooking and grill, turning regularly.

When the golden breads are well toasted. Keep warm.

Heat a frying pan over the flame.

Add the still frozen wild berries.

When the fruit begins to release its water, add the sugar and stir regularly.

It is ready when the fruit is hot and the water released from the fruit becomes syrupy.

Assembling the plate, children will love it, be careful, it can be sticky :

Spread hazelnut and cocoa spread on the French toast.

Place on the plate.

Place the wild berries on top.

Using a spoon, scoop up some of the syrup and pour over the French toast and down the side of the plate.

You'll see, it looks great and children love doing this stage of the presentation.

Use a sieve to lightly dust the French toast with icing sugar.

All that's left is to taste it!
