Easter means rabbit, chocolate, treasure hunt and above all big ham!

Qui dit Pâques dit lapin, chocolat, chasseau trésor et surtout gros jambon!

Today I present to you a reinvented recipe of the good old Easter ham, in a BBQ version, #BBQRetirement and small family! Move over big ham, here we are 2! You may be 4 or 6 at home, but certainly not 12 like your last Easter so this time, I show you how to make “The best little delicious Ham” and very quickly!

Instead of the slow cooker, we're going to cook our ham in the Presto BBQ. This keeps more moisture around the meat and even lets you smoke it, right on your gas BBQ! It also works in most pellet and charcoal "square" BBQs.

Servings: 6

Cooking time: 1h30

Preparation time: 30 minutes

The ingredients are simple:

  • a smaller ham than a large ham (if necessary, divide it in two so that it fits into the Presto BBQ from BBQ Québec)

  • 1 cup maple syrup

  • Kansas Dry Marinade

  • 1 red beer of your choice

  • 1 cup apple juice

Preparation:
  1. Preheat the BBQ, with all burners on, to around 400 F

  1. At the bottom of the Presto BBQ, pour the red beer and apple juice to create a delicious mix that will keep your humidity level very high in the BBQ.

  2. Using a brush, brush a very small amount of maple syrup on your ham, so that the spices adhere better to the ham, then rub it in the Kansas dry marinade (or Sweet Kansas for an even sweeter taste!)

  3. Place the ham in the Presto BBQ and get on the BBQ

  4. Reduce the power of your lights to be between 300 and 350 F

  5. You can add wood chips to a smoker box to smoke your ham for the first hour.

  6. Using a second aluminum pan (provided with the Presto BBQ) cover your ham, making sure that the two pans are tightly held by the Presto BBQ and then cook for another hour.

  7. Discover, glaze with maple syrup (or even BBQ sauce!), let stand for about fifteen minutes and enjoy this delicious little ham, 100% BBQ.
