In the footsteps of the Black Tiger

Sur les traces de La Black Tiger

It's the eye of the BLACK TIGEEEEEEER!!! »

It is on this slightly modified version of Eye of the Tiger from Survivor that I have the pleasure of telling you about our new dry marinade, La Black Tiger ! RAWRRRR! 🐯

Now, you might be thinking, "Oh come on! A black tiger doesn't exist!" No, but for me, it's a mythical animal! It's a tiger as black as night that captivates us with its piercing gaze. I would even say that seeing one is synonymous with luck!

Stay with me, I'll explain it all to you!

What is the Black Tiger?

In a nutshell, this is a great black dry rub. It actually has activated charcoal in it, which turns all the spices in the dry rub black. (Don't worry, it's edible!) This is a really well-balanced dry rub that goes on everything. It's especially phenomenal with beef. In fact... since it's black, you might fool your mother-in-law into thinking you burned her steak! 😱😱 She'll be surprised when she takes a bite and it's perfectly cooked. 😜

Otherwise, as for its taste, I would say it is between our Texas and Explorer dry rub . It has paprika, pepper, salt and sugar. It has a slight bite on the tongue.

What is the story behind its name?

The tiger is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful animals in the world. And a black tiger is out of the ordinary, like an "all black" dry marinade. So I decided to combine the two to get something that stands out. Also, I'll tell you about it a little later, but you can even use it to do the "tiger method", so its name is very appropriate.

The inspiration for its creation

At BBQ Québec, we always want to create new products inspired by what we discover. We also love everything black (and tigers!), so designing a black dry marinade seemed like the next step to take to offer you an avant-garde product.

Also, this is a process that is quite niche at the moment, but there are pitmasters who use the tiger method to season their meats. What is it? It is the fact of using a black dry marinade alternately with an orange (or white!) dry marinade to give a striped effect to the meats. That also gave me the taste to develop a black dry marinade.

How to use it?

As with any dry rub, I recommend putting a good coating on your food before cooking. This is a "classic" dry rub that goes well with everything, but was designed primarily for briskets, steaks, and burgers.

You can use it to make the "tiger method" (with the Kansas BBQ Québec dry rub or the Kosmos Q Honey and Chipotle spice , for example) or to give a "bark" of fire to your cuts of meat. Not only does Black Tiger give a black color to foods, it also gives them a texture and a superb caramelization. (I tell you, the joke of "oh no, it's burnt!" is perfect. 😆)

For an even more incredible result, you can even combine it with the Booster BBQ Québec flavor enhancer and/or the Expresso BBQ Québec sauce and/or the Ketchot BBQ Québec sauce .

Otherwise, if you're feeling more "wild", there is activated charcoal in this dry rub. What does that mean? That it can whiten your teeth! And here, be careful, don't start doing a home whitening treatment with that! I'm just saying that in addition to making you smile, it will make your smile brighter. 😉

So here it is! Now that all that is said, I'm going to go get ready to face Rocky with my tiger strength! 😎

Happy BBQ!
