As pizza and BBQ fans, Max and JP have created a new tool to complete the BBQ Québec pizza collection. What? A pizza spatula for putting in the oven . (Yes, yes, for putting in the oven !)
Pizza Spatula VS Oven Pizza Spatula
Before we go any further, you may be thinking that we already have a pizza spatula , so why bring out another one? We hear you and we understand, which is why it is important that we start by specifying the difference between our new spatula and our "regular" pizza spatula.
Apart from the apparent physical differences, such as the size, colour and thickness of the two accessories, it is worth mentioning that the "standard" one has an aluminium head and a wooden handle, while the new one is made entirely of non-porous antibacterial wood fibre. The big advantage of this (apart from the fact that the spatula has an antibacterial surface) is that wood fibre is a material that sticks much less than aluminium, which is why it is ideal for preparing pizzas and sending them to the BBQ. Moreover, wood fibre is also very interesting because unlike pure wood, it does not need to be oiled and is less likely to split.
Another difference is in the tip of the spatulas. The head of the pizza spatula is flat and even from edge to edge, while the edge of the oven pizza spatula is beveled; another reason why it is more convenient for sliding pizzas. Oh! And the edge is beveled on both sides, so it is a spatula that is also reversible.
Otherwise, thanks to the small size and wood fiber composition of this spatula, it is also dishwasher safe, which is not the case with our "regular" spatula. You also only need one hand to handle it instead of two.
Other interesting aspects
Let's start with the most obvious, its beautiful, sober black look. Not only does this color make the spatula match well with all cooking tools, it also gives it the advantage of hardly looking dirty. In addition, it also has the beautiful BBQ Québec flame on its handle which gives it a modern and elegant look (and the real ones will know that you are a real BBQ fan 😉).
Otherwise, its wood fiber construction makes it very resistant; it can withstand temperatures up to 350 °F. You can therefore keep this spatula for a long time and bring it close to your BBQ to put your pizza on it without any problem.
Its 6 mm thickness also gives you a better grip and helps make the spatula more resistant and durable.
Finally, it also has a hole in its handle, so you can hang it on one of the hooks of your grill without any problem. Otherwise, it is quite small, so storage is not a problem. 😉
More than a spatula to put in the oven
To conclude, it is important to clarify that this spatula is used, yes, to put pizzas in the oven, as mentioned, but also to prepare them.
Spread some flour or cornmeal on top, shape your pizza on the spatula, and POOF! it's already in position to go on the grill.
Of course, you can prepare other meals besides pizza on this spatula or even use it as a serving board. What you do with it is up to you. 😉
