Have you decided to make your dream come true and upgrade your outdoor BBQ area with an outdoor kitchen? This is a great decision!
An outdoor kitchen is a wonderful project. It's also a big project. So there are several things to think about before you start your process.
One thing that is important to know, however, is that you do not need to have an architect's plan in hand to come to BBQ Québec . All you need is an idea of what you want and I will be happy to help you "pimp your yard". (I say "see me" because outdoor kitchens are my specialty, but if one of my colleagues ever serves you, you will also receive very good service. ;))
What are the right questions to ask yourself before starting your process?
Before you make an appointment with me, I would like you to have a few details in mind. Afterwards, we will take the time together to discuss your project.
- Where do you want your kitchen to be located? Is it an open space or inside a gazebo? (If the space is 100% enclosed, you will need to consider installing a range hood.)
- Which way is the wind blowing in this location? (Knowing this will allow us to anticipate the return of smoke from your BBQ.) It is essential to choose a space that is neither too windy nor too sunny.
- How big will your outdoor kitchen be? Will it be U-shaped? L-shaped? Think about practicality, functionality and invitingness.
- Would you like to have a modular or custom-made outdoor kitchen?
- What elements do you want to integrate into your kitchen? (Refrigerator, sink, 2 BBQs, ice maker, fireplace, etc.)
- What size BBQ should I include?
Once you have an idea, you will be well prepared to make an appointment with me.
What are the main stages of an outdoor kitchen project?
To put it simply, I would say that there are 5 stages: thinking, meeting with a specialist, designing the kitchen, installing its components, and, finally, the joy of enjoying your kitchen.
- The reflection
As I mentioned earlier, it all starts with thinking. Before you start an outdoor kitchen project, you need to think carefully about what you want to have in your kitchen, because it's not something you're going to change every year. So you need to consider all the possible options.
- The meeting
Choosing the best options can be difficult. Don't worry, that's what I'm here for! When you come to see me in store, I'll ask you a few questions to get a good idea of what you have in mind.
For example, in addition to those mentioned above, I will ask you how many people will be using your facilities. Are you a frequent entertainer? What BBQ are you currently using? How much space do you have available? Is the chosen location level? Etc.
Once I have a good understanding of your project, and we have even drawn up a plan of what you want, I will present to you the options available in terms of BBQs and manufacturers.
- The design
For the construction of your outdoor kitchen, I will offer you two choices of companies to do business with: Cuinox or Urban Bonfire.
We like to encourage Quebec companies, which is why Cuinox is one of our choices. If you opt for this company's products, you will be able to choose rust-resistant 304 grade stainless steel modules ranging from 24 to 72” for your kitchen. You will be able to integrate a sink into your modules, an extension for a small refrigerator, a trash can, a custom bar, a draft beer system and more. Your modules will even come with countertops made of 1 ¼ inch quartz. Installation is included for Cuinox modules.
Otherwise, Urban Bonfire also manufactures modular kitchens, but also produces 100% custom ones. Its 100% marine aluminum products made in Montreal can even be modified after use if you want to redesign your kitchen. For example, if you want to change your doors to bring them up to date in a few years, it is possible with them.
If you prefer a custom kitchen, I will fill out a questionnaire with you, and send it to Urban Bonfire who will get back to me with a price and a more precise outline of what your future kitchen would look like.
Regardless of which option you prefer, however, your kitchen countertops are not included with Urban Bonfire products. When choosing your countertops, I will direct you to a supplier who will meet your needs. If you want a dekton or granite countertop, for example, I can easily put you in touch with the right people.
- The installation
Depending on the company you decide to do business with, the installation services will be different. We can discuss this in more detail together, but know that a BBQ Québec employee will be present to install your BBQ in the right place in all cases.
As for the waiting time, the Cuisinox modules will be ready after approximately 6 weeks, then the Urban Bonfire products after approximately 8 to 10 weeks.
- Relaxation
When everything is in place the way you want it, you can finally enjoy your new favorite space and avoid the endless trips back and forth between the house and the terrace. As I like to say, an outdoor kitchen is an extension of the heart of the home, so you will have just as much fun there, if not more.
All you have to do is open a small beer and start cooking on your beautiful BBQ!
In conclusion
An outdoor kitchen project comes to life after a few follow-ups and emails since you have to make sure that everything is to your taste. Throughout the process, I will support you through the steps with enthusiasm and make sure that you get an incredible end result.
I am the perfect person to accompany you in your wonderful project and it is with pleasure that I will be there for you and that I will answer all your questions and concerns. I want you to enjoy 100% of your new space and that it is beneficial to you as much as possible.
Looking forward to advising you soon!
