YEEHAW! It is with my legendary cowboy hat on my head that I have the pleasure of telling you about the dry marinade Prêts pour le Rodéo . 🤠 In fact, in his case, it is not so much a place that marked Alexandre and Valérie, but rather an experience.
They were at a campsite in Calgary, where the famous Calgary Stampede was taking place, and it was in this place full of cowboys that they started chatting with one of their neighbors. Talk, talk, chat, chat, their neighbor is really nice and they become friends with him.
Before he left, their new friend gave them his phone number. He knew a little about the couple's itinerary and so he told them, "When you pass through Louisiana, come and visit us!" Once they arrived at their destination, Alexandre and Valérie called their friend, and the company was so pleasant that their one-night stop turned into a week-long stay.
One evening, their friend takes out his BBQ and decides to serve them a steak with a homemade spice mix. Alexandre and Valérie taste it and… it has a flavor that is truly out of the ordinary. They have never eaten anything like it. A steak that tastes of pepper, lemon and garlic.
The result was so good that they wanted to reproduce the taste themselves, but they figured it would be much easier if everything was already mixed. And… that's where I come in.
Their friend's steak was so unique and delicious that they asked me to create a dry rub inspired by their friend's recipe. A dry rub that would pay homage to him, and would be perfect for all the cowboys who love steaks like him. 🤘
What does it taste like?
So I got to work and… personally, I think I created something solid. I managed to perfect a kind of “steak spice”, but lemony. The Ready for Rodeo dry rub is very tasty. In fact, if I had to compare it to another of our products, I would say it’s like Texas , but with an added lemon kick. In other words, it’s a “SPGC (salt, pepper, garlic, citrus)”. 😜
More specifically, it's a "luxury salt and pepper" type dry rub with lemon in it. The lemon balances it all out and gives it something that is simple, effective and magical. It also contains a lot of garlic. BUT... it doesn't steal the show from the steak! It just gives it a distinctive acidic bite in the mouth and a perfect crust.
What to pair it with?
The best way to use it is to put it on your steaks before grilling/cooking them. Not a "steak" fan? (!!!??? 😱) It's also great with vegetables, chicken, and seafood; especially shrimp.
If you want to do like Alexandre, try it in a stir-fry with shrimp and vegetables, you'll love it!
Otherwise, in any case, I am convinced that this dry marinade will surprise you. It tastes "in tabarouette" good, if I may say so 😜, and there is nothing like it on the market.
I can't wait to hear from you!
"Let's go!" Harness your horse and come get yourself a pot (or several)! 🏇💨
Happy BBQ!
